We arrive at the end of the story of Jonah to find Jonah back where he started: angry with God showing mercy. In the test of the vine God shows Jonah that Jonah loves mercy and hates judgement for himself. The book ends with a challenge for him and for us: If we love mercy for ourselves and hate judgement, shouldn't we be the same for others?
