It seems pointless and cruel for God to call Abraham to sacrifice Isaac. That is until we see the parallels with God sacrificing His Son for us. Then we see how the love and cost involved in Abraham willingness to sacrifice his only son Isaac, the son of promise, illuminates the glory of God's love and sacrifice in giving us Jesus to secure our eternal fellowship.
